Derbyshire Supporting People, following initial work carried out by members of the Derbyshire County Council's BME Forums both in the south and north of the county looking into the sheltered housing needs of BME groups and an accommodation assessment of Gypsy people and Travellers in 2008, identified the need for further research and development into the housing-related support needs of these communities, to help inform current provision and any future service developments.
As a result there are now two development workers, one managed by Links and the other by Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group. The funding for these posts is for a fixed 2 year period running from December 2009 to November 2011.
