Links CVS are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our National Lottery  - Awards for All application. In 2020 Links successfully secured funding from the National Lottery Covid 19 Emergency Fund to establish and run a pilot Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) Culturally Sensitive Sitting Service. This pilot ended in August 2021.

The £10,000 grant from Awards for All will allow us to provide an interim service until we can secure more sustainable funding. It targets the needs of BME communities in our county and provides essential respite for individuals who act as informal and unpaid carers within their own family or community.

It’s an important and much-needed resource that offers support and companionship in a culturally sensitive manner for those who may find it hard to access this from elsewhere.

The ‘sitters’ who provide the respite service are recruited from eight BME Community Associations and all members completed a comprehensive training programme that was planned by Joined Up Careers and facilitated by the Derbyshire County Council Learning Pool, including online courses and virtual training sessions.

We are really pleased that we are able to continue the work of this much needed service here in Derbyshire and are grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund.
