Most groups need to raise funding. As well as applying for grants, groups might opt to raise funds through fundraising.

Most groups need to raise funding. As well as applying for grants, groups might opt to raise funds through fundraising. This can be done in a variety of ways for no cost or by incurring a little or a large expenditure. Producing a strategy for raising funds is a useful exercise that helps groups decide what they want funds for, how much, and over what period of time.

Most groups will need to apply for grants. The number of sources of grants is estimated about 10,000. The kind of funders also vary from charities and trusts to statutory bodies to the European Union. The size of grant also varies – from a few pounds (£20 for a new kettle for a luncheon club) to a few million (a new entertainment centre).
