Chesterfield Borough Council - Climate Change Forum

Chesterfield Borough Council launched a new Climate Change Forum last year, inviting community representatives to help shape how we tackle climate change. The group have met three times now – acting as a sounding board, commenting on current projects, suggesting new ideas and helping to raise awareness about climate projects happening either through the council or locally. Forum members bring a range of knowledge and expertise from the business and education sectors, climate groups and other community organisations. The Climate Change Forum is open to everyone and you don’t need to be an expert in climate change to take part. The forum are currently developing their own action plan and are meeting again on Thursday 6th June 2024 at 6.00pm – 8.00pm. To register your interest or find out more details about the forum please email climate@chesterfield.gov.uk

Chesterfield Area Walking Festival 11 - 19 May 2024

Explore the highlights of the Chesterfield area on one of our many guided walks and with a vast range available there is something for everyone. Whether you prefer a gentle stroll through local parkland or fancy a more challenging 10-mile ramble along old railway track beds, the Chesterfield Walking Festival provides the perfect opportunity to get out and about.

There will be family walks so that the children can get involved, but for those wanting to take on a challenge, we have the impressive and challenging Round Walk which boasts an impressive 34-mile route. The more experienced ramblers often opt to complete the whole distance, but there is the option to leave at any point along the way.

Walks take place across the whole area including Bolsover and some of the stunning countryside in North East Derbyshire. More details will be added as walks come in.

Most walks will be free or are taking donations for great causes and all are led by a fully trained guide who knows the history, wildlife and the best countryside to walk through (as well as the best pubs to visit) in the beautiful Chesterfield area landscape.

Booking opens in March 2024. All walks must be booked in advance.
