Postponed - Chesterfield Borough Council - Climate Change Forum


Following the announcement of the general election and the beginning of the pre-election ‘purdah’ period, we have unfortunately been advised to postpone the next Climate Change Forum meeting which had been planned for 6th June.  We are now moving the forum meeting to Tuesday 16th July, 6pm-8pm at the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Rose Hill, Chesterfield, S40 1LP.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join the action planning meeting on 15th May – we shared lots of ideas and will continue to progress and hope to have lots to update you with when we meet in July.

Hasland Village Hall - FOR LET - message for community groups and charities

Chesterfield Borough Council is in the process of looking to find a new operator / tenant for Hasland Village Hall.

We are inviting all those who are interested to “register” their interest by emailing hvh@chesterfield.gov.uk. For those registered, we will send written details and there will be an information meeting at Hasland Village Hall in July. Officers will outline the process for the community asset transfer and there will also be a building tour.

The Village Hall is currently operated by Chesterfield Borough Council as a Community Facility. The Council is seeking a new operator/ tenant to manage the facility.

Camp Inspire Summer 2024

Chesterfield Football Club Community Trust are delighted to announce that bookings for Camp Inspire Summer 2024 are now open!

Camp Inspire is a Health & Wellbeing holiday camp for children/ young people ages 4 to 16 years old focused on enhancing wellbeing and the development of soft skills through structured fun activities.  

The programme is delivered under the Holiday Activity Food (HAF) programme commissioned by Derbyshire County Council through StreetGames to co-ordinate the HAF scheme in Derbyshire.

Camp Inspire is for ANYONE who would benefit from structured holiday activities in Derbyshire and the local area. Sessions are free for families who claim benefit related free school meals. Free places are also available to children/ young people in vulnerable groups; including but not limited to, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), young carers, and child in need/ child protection.

Please can you share the below instructions to those in the your communities who would benefit.

In order to book on, please read the below carefully and follow the steps: 

1. Go to the ‘It’s About Me’ website - https://itsaboutmederbyshire.co.uk

2. Click ‘BOOK NOW’ in the top right corner

3. Click ‘Provider’ and select ‘Chesterfield FC Community Trust’ then search

4. You will have the selection of two projects:

- Camp Inspire Summer 2024 @Holme Hall - PRIMARY

- Camp Inspire Summer 2024 @Netherthorpe – PRIMARY & SECONDARY

5. You will be redirected to a new page. Click ‘Get Directions’ for help on location and ‘Book Now’ to book your place. 

6. You will then see weekly blocks available. 

If you child requires 1:1 support, please select the correct block.

All 1:1 applicants will be reviewed before confirmation.

6. Select the days you wish to book on then ‘Add To Booking Cart’.

7. Follow the remainder of the steps accordingly to complete the referral form. 

Please complete with as much information as possible. This will support with planning and logistics.

If your child/ young person is in receipt of free school meals, you will be prompted for the FMS code. Please contact their school if you are unsure of this code.

Referral forms will close on Monday 22nd July at 5pm. Please ensure you have completed the above to ensure your child/ young person has secured a place on Camp Inspire.

 

Funded Personal and Wellbeing course

VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Vocational Studies – Personal Wellbeing is a great CPD course for anyone looking to better their lifestyle through improving their personal wellbeing and I am in the position to offer this fabulous course fully funded to anyone living in the eligible postcode region (please see the attachment for confirmed postcodes).  Do you have anyone who might be interested in this course and has a postcode which is eligible for funding?  This course is open to staff or anyone in the community who you feel might benefit from this qualification.

Delivered in our small, friendly Academy in Chesterfield on St Marys Gate and conveniently located close to the Crooked Spire, Level 1 Certificate in Vocational Studies – Personal Wellbeing, is an accredited qualification and includes:

 - Head Massage

- Wellbeing goals and Personal Development

- Healthy Living

- Making the most of personal leisure time

- Client care and communication

- Preparation for the workplace

The start dates include:

Tuesday daytime: 23rd July, 10am – 2.30pm for 8 weeks

Thursday daytime: 25th July, 10am – 2.30pm for 8 weeks

Both Tuesday & Thursday evening: 30th July, 6pm – 9pm for 4 weeks.

Hotpod Yoga Session for Community Leaders

Coming up on July 11th, we’re excited to be a part of Hotpod Yoga’s upcoming free Nurturing Flow yoga session for Chesterfield Community Leaders, hosted by Hotpod’s very own Chris Wilkinson! 

If you are, or if you represent, a leader of a Chesterfield-based charity, social enterprise, changemaker or business for positive social change, why not come along and network with your peers in a unique and satisfying afternoon of yoga which will leave your body and mind calm and relaxed.

Mediation Coordinator Vacancy - Citizens Advice Central Nottinghamshire

22.5 hours per week              Salary: £25,000 per annum pro rata      

Citizens Advice Central Nottinghamshire are recruiting into this role in Broxtowe which provides a mediation service across Broxtowe.  We work in partnership with Broxtowe Youth Homelessness and Broxtowe Borough Council to provide a service to help any age group that needs mediation to help them solve a dispute.

The Mediation Coordinator will be required to assist the Operations Manager to ensure this service is successful by recruiting and training volunteers to expand the service as demand grows. The successful candidate will need to have the following skills:

- A recognised qualification in mediation (or willingness to obtain relevant training)

- Experience of recruiting and training volunteers or staff

- Successfully achieving quality standards

- Experience in using various IT platforms including databases

- Ability to proceed progress reports

- Experience in working with partners and stakeholders to achieve common aims and promote the service
