Postponed - Chesterfield Borough Council - Climate Change Forum

Following the announcement of the general election and the beginning of the pre-election ‘purdah’ period, we have unfortunately been advised to postpone the next Climate Change Forum meeting which had been planned for 6th June.  We are now moving the forum meeting to Tuesday 16th July, 6pm-8pm at the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Rose Hill, Chesterfield, S40 1LP.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join the action planning meeting on 15th May – we shared lots of ideas and will continue to progress and hope to have lots to update you with when we meet in July.

We hope you are able to join us. If you have any queries in the meantime, please get in touch.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Groups

Derby City and South Derbyshire Mental Health Carers’ Forum

Derbyshire County Council have announced a consultation about the end to VCSE discretionary funding.

The impact of these cuts will be devastating for our voluntary sector organisations, community groups and the many thousands of people they support. Which is why, Derbyshire Voluntary Action in partnership with the African Caribbean Community Association and Chesterfield FC Community Trust are hosting a special event to collect the voices of partners and colleagues.

To learn more about why this event is taking place please visit our website https://dva.org.uk/voluntary-sector-cuts/

Book your place https://buytickets.at/derbyshirevoluntaryaction/1295720

If you are unable to make the event, there are other ways you can show your support:

Complete the Consultation Questionnaire - Cessation of Grant Funding Consultation Questionnaire

Sign the Petition - Save local Charities and Community Organisations (you will need to register, but it only takes a few seconds to do)

Chesterfield Pride, 21st July from 1-7pm

Golden Gays (over 50’s LGBT+ group), 24th July from 10.30-12.30pm in our Derby Community Centre and 25th July, same time in our Chesterfield Community Centre.

LGBT+ Mental Health Group, 26th July from 1.30-3.30pm in our Derby Community Centre

LGBT+ Family Group, 28th July, 10-12pm at a secret location

LGBT+ Blood on the clocktower game, 28th July, 2-7pm at our Chesterfield Community Centre

LGBT+ Families and Family Law talk and Q+A, 30th July from 6.30-8pm at our Derby Community Centre

PIP and voucher consultation

The Starmer Government have not squashed the PIP and vouchers consultation, therefore people need to go onto gov.uk

PIP and vouchers consultation so the government can be dissuaded from stopping people claiming on mental health grounds and for other claimants to be paid in vouchers rather than cash. The consultation ends 22nd July 2024.
