Opportunity - DCHS research team outreach offer

We’re the Research and Innovation team at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, and we’d love to connect with local community groups across the county.

We’re looking for opportunities to attend events or group meetings with a small table or stall where we can share easy-to-understand information about health research.

Health research helps improve care and treatment. But many people don’t know how to get involved—sometimes because it’s not well advertised or only happens in hospitals. We want to change that.

We’d like to help people:

  • Learn what health research is and why it matters
  • Find out about research opportunities that might interest them
  • Get signposted to study opportunities where this is possible, especially if they have certain health conditions

You might remember how important research was during the Covid-19 pandemic—like when the UK helped develop the first vaccines. But research happens all the time, in many areas. Some studies are just surveys or interviews, while others offer access to new treatments or technology not yet available in regular care.

Taking part in research is always your choice. There’s no pressure.

We’d love to visit your group or event—especially if you have a particular health focus, so we can tailor what we bring. We also work with NHS partners across Derbyshire and Chesterfield, so we may be able to connect you with research that’s relevant to your group.

If you’re open to us visiting or want to chat more about it, please get in touch. We’d be very happy to talk or meet.

Thank you!

Please contact Vicky v.davison@nhs.net if you’d like to know more.

North East Derbyshire District Council is currently consulting on its Gambling Act 2005 Policy (Statement of Licensing Principles).

This policy sets out how the Council, as the Licensing Authority, will consider and determine applications for premises such as betting shops, bingo halls, and amusement arcades. It is designed to guide applicants, objectors, decision-makers, and other stakeholders through the licensing process.

The policy also explains how the Licensing Authority will promote the three statutory licensing objectives:

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime;
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way; and
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.

We welcome your views on the proposed policy. To view the draft policy and for details on how to respond, please visit Gambling Policy Consultation - North East Derbyshire District Council

This consultation will close on 24 August 2025.
